Q:  Are you still accepting song submissions? Is there a dateline?
A:  Yes, we are still accepting songs and we do not have a firm dateline for publishing the book of peace songs. At this time, we have collected over 100 peace songs.

If you are interested in submitting a song to be considered for this project, please click here.

Q:  Will the songwriters receive any payment for their contributions?
A:

We are sorry but being a non-profit organization and funded only by donations, we are unable to afford any payments to the songwriters. All songwriters retain their own copyrights. The songs for this project will be used to create goodwill, friendship and an opportunity to build bridges in the name of peace.

Q:  What kind of songs are you looking for?
A:

We hope to share new songs of peace from songwriters around the world. We are seeking songs that express love of the environment, humanity, and self-development in the name of peace. Songs that are topical, political and religious will be considered but not necessarily included. Although we thank you for your enthusiasm, please do not send us songs that you have not written.

Q:  Who can submit songs to the project?
A:

We welcome songs that are written by amateurs, emerging songwriters and professional recording artists. We have received a large number of submissions from songwriters of varying skills and from around the world.

For legal copyright reasons, you must be the copyright owner of the song or be associated with and have consent from the owner. If you submit an MP3 file to be shared on our site, it is up to you to ensure that you have the permission of everyone involved in the recording of this song. We reserve the discretion of only including a submission in the book project and not the web site, or vice versa.

Among one of our song contributors is Jane Heald, a 72 year old grandmother from Pleasant Hill, TN, USA. She is an excellent example of never being too old, or young, to write your own songs. Although the production values of her simple and profound songs may be basic, the intentions and messages are loud and clear in her music.

Q:  Why do you need lead sheets for the book project?
A:

We need the lead sheets (which consists of music notation, chords and lyrics; see an example) for the book project so that other musicians can play your song with their instruments. If we just used the lyrics, it would be like publishing a book of poems and you would not be getting a full appreciation of the song's intrinsic value and beauty.

Q:  When will the book of submitted songs be published?
A:

We are currently still accepting submissions from songwriters and artists. When we have collected a sufficient number of lead sheets for the book, we will notify all contributors again before we start the self-publish process. A very rough estimate for publishing the first book, based on the current submission rate, is late 2004 or early 2005.

Q:  I have recorded a peace song. How do I submit the recording?
A:

We will accept MP3 files which you can upload to us at this web site. If you would like us to share your recorded song with the public, we will post an MP3 copy (encoded at 80 kbps) of your song on this web site.

Q:  Will you be releasing a compilation music CD with a selection of the submitted songs?
A:

No. We have no plans to release any compilation CD. All MP3 files which were accepted for the project are available for download from this web site. They will not be used to create a compilation CD. We encourage our site visitors to visit the artist's web site if they would like to purchase the song on a CD.

Q:  I only want my song's lead sheets to be included in your book. I do not want them published on this web site.
A:

We will only publish songs on this web site and share your MP3 songs with your expressed consent.
